Apple has the absolute worst technical writers. I want more information than a few lines of text.
Looking at the list though it's small step in the right direction. I'm still not anywhere close to installing Lion on my production machine at work. -

Well, after using it all day, I can confirm (at least for my system) that my previous wi-fi issues have stopped and my MBP has also stopped outputting 1.1 audio via HDMI (it is 2.0 now, multi-channel output in VLC still seems to be broken but that likely won't change until VLC updates their program with the new Lion specs).
So the update was worth it for me and now puts Lion closer to how SL was generally operating in terms of wi-fi and audio output. As I said, multi-channel digital passthrough (Dolby Digital or DTS) is still broken in VLC but that is it for me. Apple fixed the issue my MBP had when it would show that I was connected to my home wi-fi network upon waking from sleep mode yet I wouldn't actually be connected. I would have to turn wi-fi off and then back on in order to re-connect. So far, that hasn't happened to me yet after downloading the update this morning. -
Agreed, Lion still has a long way to go.... but at least they are nudging it in the correct direction.
I also tried to find more in depth detail about the update, but unfortunately Apple is as tight lipped about everything as usual.
