Hi i am looking for a wireless mouse. Basically i want the mouse to be wireless so that i will not have to deal with wires. I also would prefer not to have to use dongles in my laptop either. The mouse has also got to be at least two buttons.
I have looked at some cordless mouses but i do not know how they work really.
I am aware of the Apple Bluetooth mouse but after having 2 faulty wired MM's and reading such bad press about them online i have started to look elsewhere for my wireless mouse.
I wonder if anybody could recommend me a good mouse to get?
I debated about posting this in the accessories forum instead but as i thought that more Mac users may view this forum i posted it here instead. If it is not ok then please move it.

I was looking for a bluetooth mouse but its a surprisingly small selection out there. Logitech v270 is popular but i found it to be loud and the wheel was annoying. The mighty mouse has the features (laser, bluetooth) but they went for looks over comfort which is rediculous. But then i tried teh Logitech Revolution for notebooks. Wow.
The revolution is hands down the more comfortable notebook mouse ever. Go to your local computer store and just feel the things. Its perfect. The biggest problems is the price ($69) and its not bluetooth. I really dont want a dongle so im going to wait it out and hope a BT version comes out. -
I would prefer a BT mouse too... do you think the (IR? RF?) dongle works with Macs? I supect it won't.
-
I've just receive the Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse, it's great, no bluetooth dongle needed, but the mouse is a little bit tiny for my hand.
-
The mighty mouse is not such a pain, but the right click(i would consider a thumb click) is kinda ackward and needs time to get used to. Anyway i ll get mighty mouse if i get the mac just to match it.

Hi rachuk,
unfortunately the bluetooth mouse selection is quite small out there. Maybe Radtech BT600 would be the right one for you:
It has a few nice features like 5-button control, NiMH rechargeable batteries. in-mouse fast-charging (via an included USB cable). This is a full size bt mouse, Radtech offers a smaller notebook size mouse BT500 with nearly this same features. -
Yeah, I have the logitech v270.. It's ok. Not that great. Then again, i didn't install drivers for it. It's very hard to get the movement settings right. It's either WAY too fast or way too slow.
In windows it works great though. -
Thanks, i just had a look at that site and i really like the look of the BT600. I like that is a full sized mouse and i like the colours and that it is got a lot of features. Unfortunately though this mouse is not available in the UK apart from Ebay and for warranty purposes i would not buy one on Ebay.
I can order it though through the US site but i am a bit worried if i have a problem with it i will have to send it back to the US for a refund or a replacement.
Also, i am unsure about any duty charges that it may incur.

That's really pity that Radtech doesn't sell in UK. It's or coming soon another bt mouse on the market: Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000
But it's from Microsoft. When you haven't any objections to use a MS BT mouse on your Apple's Macbook Pro, than it's your choice. The mouse design suits better with MBP because of real aluminium und grey colour.
I'm sure you are/will be able to buy this one in the UK too. -

Does that Microsoft mouse work under Mac OS X? Microsoft claims XP or Vista in the requirements.
-
The predecessor of this bt mouse the "Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth" hadn't any OSX driver at all. Anyway it has worked flawless with OSX.
I couldn't check yet does this new MS bt mouse works on OSX or not, because I didn't see it in any store. -
I have read reviews on the wireless Mighty Mouse not working correctly. Is this true?
-
I too have the Logitech V270 and am less than impressed. The tracking can be quirky on some surfaces and the shape is not great. I also have a Kensington Ci65m that is pretty good, only downside is that it is not BT, but it tracks very well, especially compared to the Logitech. Oh, as for MS stuff, most people consider the best keyboard for Mac to be from Microsoft. So I would not discount their mice, they are actually quite good.
-
That MS mouse does look very impressive. A lot of sites leave out as well the fact that is has got a rechargeable cradle and a on and off button also.
MS do good mouses.
I rang through to a Radtech division in the UK today called Radius and i asked them if they carried the silver BT500 mouse (as they only have the blue and silver ones listed on their site) or if they could get the BT600 for me. They said that they could not get the BT600 in for me but that they had the silver BT500 mouses in stock.

I just ordered the BT500 in silver. This is a rechargeable bluetooth mouse. This mouse is also three inches long which should be ok for me. It cost me £43.50 plus shipping so it was not exactly cheap but hopefully for me it will be worth it.
Here is a link to the US Radtech review page about this mouse.

Thank you for all your help.

The BT-500 mouse that i was sent had to be sent back because of to many problems with it. Maybe i just i got a faulty one. It is a shame that i had problems with it as aesthetically it is a nice design.
The one i had would lose the connection easily in Mac or Windows even when the battery was charged.
Also, pairing it was problematic for me as well as sometimes it would not allow me to pair the mouse up in Windows or Mac OSX. I would push the pairing button but most of the time it would not be recognised.
I am not absolutely sure what i am going to get now i will look at the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 again or i may even just end up sticking with wired. -
The only complaint I have about my mighty mouse is that when right clicking, you need to make sure your finger is off the left side of the mouse or else it'll register the click as a left cick. I love my mighty mouse!
-
I ended up with the Microsoft 8000 Wireless Laser mouse in the end and that is a very good mouse. It looks good and it functions well. I have experienced zero dropped connections so far with this mouse.
The only thing though it does not have any of the secondary functions that Apple MM do. Other than right click and left click it does not appear to do more than that but i do not care about that really.
The signal is strong and it does what i need it to do. It scrolls nicely on wood and i am happy with its performance.
There is a Mac software CD that comes in the 8000 kit. I added it by selecting browse device in my menu and doing it that way. I have read that some people have had problems trying to add it via Apple's system preferences bluetooth panel.
Doing it the way that i did that another forum recommended on another forum i had no problems. -
Do you have the Bluetooth, or the USB RF?
-
Cashmonee it is the Bluetooth version which i have got here is a link to it on the Microsoft site . This mouse also comes with an optional receiver which is meant to make the signal even stronger but i have had no need for that yet.
-
you guys talk here about mouse, but how about a keyboard/mouse combos? I really like logitech's bluetooth keyboard/mouse combos, anyone knows if they would work with mac? I just bought macbook pro and am completely clueless...but i would strongly prefer a set that would work in both mac os x and windows. any advice would be greatly appreciated
-
I find that the mighty mouse and wireless mac keyboard are the finest looking pair of accessories that you can ever get. However, if you insist on Logitech's BT, it's totally up to you. I know that Lenovo BT keyboard and mouse do not work on a Mac. -
but will it work under windows? mac keyboard is fine, but mighty mouse...don't know...it looks like a toy? and i need two buttons, scroll wheel...i am still hoping the BT versions of logitech's ones will work under mac os x..
