I have an older MBP with the separate headphone jack and mic plugs where the mic plug requires a powered source. This means that a lot of PC headsets that use the plugs don't work with my Mac. Any suggestions for a solution? I'm just looking for something to use with Google Voice to make phone calls with.

A USB solution would work too - as long as it's bulletproof on drivers.

I use the logitech usb wireless headset, and it's been great w/google voice. Works with the built-in drivers as long as you have a recent release of OSX.

I have a Logitech USB headset. It has rather decent sound quality and works just fine with either Windows or Macintosh. However, in OS X, you have to select the headset for both audio and microphone in the sound settings in System Preferences.

My daughter loaned me her Microsoft USB headset and it was recognized in the OS but I don't think that it worked with Google Voice - I might need a reinstall. The Lindy device is pretty neat - is there something comparable for a four-segment iPhone style plug? I have a Sennheiser Adidas headset and it's supposed to have a microphone that works with the newer MBPs but it doesn't work with mine - I assume because of the power issue. I would like to use that but am looking for alternatives that are light and small.
