Hi,
I am on a Macbook Pro. I recently upgraded from 2GB of RAM to 4GB Ram. On the Mac OS, it shows that I have 4GB running.
However, on Windows Vista Ultimate (through bootcamp), it shows I have 3GB of RAM..
Anyone have any idea why they would be different?

32-bit editions of Windows don't see past 3.3Gb of RAM.

mac os x is a 64 bit operating system. it can handle 4 GB+ of ram.
the 32 bit versions of windows xp can handle approx 3 GB of ram. if you want to be able to use all of your ram in windows, you will need to install the 64 bit version of windows vista (you just have to get the cd, it doesn't cost extra) and you will also need to come up with drivers on your own, as apple's boot camp does not yet support 64 bit windows. -
Thank you all for the replies!
I guess I will have to wait and see if the official BootCamp in September will support it.
Thanks again -
FGLRXandYou came up with a guide on getting Vista 64-bit edition to work on the MBP. Here's the post to it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=149395. Its not complete yet, but its pretty far along in getting most of the MBP to function well with Vista 64-bit.
That thread should be stickied. -
Actually, if you go through the process online to get actual media for the 64-bit version, they'll still charge you shipping, which comes out to be around $10.00. Can't say I blame them, but it's still annoying
