It's a Page 2 rumor from Mac Rumors.

Those rumors generally don't come to fruition, they're just posted because they received them. Since the rumors don't generally make sense, they're posted on Page 2.

The real updates will likely happen at WWDC.

Hmmm, you never know with Apple. Maybe they got Montevina processors early, like they did the processors in the MBA. New case designs and 8800M GTXs? Don't get your hopes up, but it'll be awesome if they get updated. The Penryn update wasn't really a true update, more like something minor to keep customers happy and because Intel wanted to stop producing Memrom processors.

It certainly wouldn't make sense for Apple to update the MBP's in May right after the march update.

The February update was really, really minor. Like I mentioned, they just wanted to keep customers happy and Intel wanted to stop producing Memrom processors (which is why the MB also got Penryn). There's a good chance we might see something tomorrow, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

There's nothing to update to yet...Montevina hasn't been released yet. I wouldn't expect it.

    8800m gtx isn't a sensible update...

its possible there could be some die shrink + revision of the 8600m gt. they might call it a 9600m gt. that would make more sense.

I would be a happier than a pig in slop if there was an HDMI port and Blu Ray.

Yes! I would like HDMI too.

And maybe actual DVI on the MacBook would be nice too :p.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the next MBP update will have HDMI and a Blu Ray option. Must have in this age of huge screen HDTV!

One thing I've learnt watching apple do its thing is to never bet on anything. They've surprised everyone at just about every opportunity. Good and bad surprises. :)

The MBPs aren't going to get Blu Ray before the Mac Pros do.

Hopefully both will get them at WWDC, but if not, I wouldn't be looking forward to any Blu-Ray drives on the MBPs until the Mac Pros get them.

May be this rumor was sent from Europe and the date was June 5, and not May 6 (05/06/2008 in Europe) :)

I don't see Apple picking up blu-ray until it's in final spec.

Playing movies in the BRD burners is still a crap shoot at this point.

There's always speculations and if you google for it, every other tuesday the mb/mbp will be updated.

When do you think they will completely redesign the casing? In the June update or when Nehalem is released?

I would put my money on Nehalem when the whole architect/redesign would make sense.
