hi everyone, i was wondering if i should get the Brand Spankin New Macbook or should i get the refurbished macbook pro. i just mainly need a notebook for basic use with some movie making and music editing but i really like the Macbook pro to grow into, but i like the macbook because of its portability. i need something scratch and dent proof but i like the sleek silver. any ideas?? thanks!!!

also does anybody know what they will be upgrading in the refresh in october?

Nobody but Apple knows, we can only speculate.
It's believed that apple will atleast introduce montevina. Sam believes there will be a complete redesign.
Really, we don't have a crystal ball here, only apple knows what's really going on.

The MacBook is a very heavy laptop for its size, so it isn't quite so portable. The MBP would actually weigh less and have a far better graphics card, as well as other features. I would recommend the MBP.

yeah, but for what your doing either one is good as you can always hook up an external monitor and the come on, the macbook isn't that heavy. maybe for its class but by itself its light.

I would also go on to say that the MBP is also more suitable for movie editing, given its larger screen. Also, the MBP is constructed of aluminum alloy, where the MB is made only of plastic.
I'm not trying to convince the OP to buy the MBP, just pointing out that it is *much* more suitable for his needs in various areas. -
You could wait for the next-gen Macbooks... it wouldn't surprise me if they went aluminum. Then again, who knows.

you can get a new MBP from apple for 1500$(from powerseller of course)

Add me to the list of people who think it'll be a complete redesign. The current gen Apples have already been through a refresh (Santa Rosa), and they're getting a little dated, esp. the Macbook.
