I didn't miss it, you just haven't convinced me that you have done the engineering analysis necessary to back up this statement. I trust the engineering team that designed it. The fact is, the build has very little physical room. It's clearly non-trivial to add random heat pipes to the system.
If your goal is to max out games completely® - then we aren't really talking about gaming fluency anymore, we're talking about maxing out graphics settings. There is a lot of headroom between maxing out every game in every scene at 60+fps @1920x1200 versus getting high performance and graphics quality in games.
It's clearly not for you. That's ok! There are other options on the market for precisely this reason. But you don't have to be completely all-in or bust about it. You don't have to justify your decision not to buy one by assuming that the product is trash. The reality is that it is what it is: it's a solid macbook pro, high performance for the form factor, and it has an excellent display. It's also very expensive, it doesn't have the best® display among all laptops displays ever created, and it's not (nor is it intended to be) a serious competitor for people who prioritize gaming first.
Adding a heat pipe and a higher performance graphics card doesn't make sense for the mbp. There's simply no room in the chassis. If you want something bigger and heavier, those options exist! (for a reason- many people demand performance first!). Laptops with an emphasis on user-upgradeable parts also exist.
Hope that helps.

We had to do some rather intensive cleanup in this thread. Since we caught it a bit late, we're not gonna go with individual warnings or infractions this time. However, i'm leaving this message as a general warning and reminder.
1: Do not feed the trolls, report people trolling, do not reply to trolling posts, if you report it, we'll take care of it ASAP.
2: Avoid focusing on another topic until the OP gets his answer. He got his answer and made his choice, so feel free to keep the discussion going where it's at now, but keep it polite, factual and civil.
3: It might be a good idea for some of you to revisit the forum rules now to avoid getting infractions in the future. In my experience very few read those when they join and don't bother to read them until they get a warning, don't be that person. It's also natural to forget things over time and there have been some minor modifications made, might be a good idea to check them out anyways.
4: Finally be mindful of how you post and what you post. Sometimes it's not what you say, but rather how you say it. It might also be a good idea to ask yourself if some comments are necessary of will just initiate flamewars. Lastly, written sarcasm is rarely sarcastic, keep that in mind.
I'm not closing the thread, but we'll be keeping a close eye on it. -
What options can we find with similar hardware but for windows?? HP envy??

If you can wait, there will be a 13" rMBP.
Sure it will be there, just time matter. -
I used my wifes macbook pro full time for a little under a year and have grown quite attached to the mac os. I bought an envy 15 and thought I would have a similar experience, unfortunately windows does not offer the same experience that osx can deliver. Full screen apps, swiping between them, apple mail, TRACKPAD, and now with mountain lion I will have a seamless connection between all my devies(ipad, iphone, laptop)
I guess its happened for me... Ive finally switched lol. -
I was strongly considering one before going with the rMBP and played with one at a Sony Store. I thought the build was a bit flimsy, and it had a few other minor issues that prevented me from going that route, but YMMV. I'd suggest checking one out. -
Definitely spend the money and get the rmbp, I had a 13 inch mbp last me almost my entire college career. Best purchase I ever made!

To the OP and anyone else looking to answer the question, a review of the updated MBP is up on Anandtech:
AnandTech - The 2012 MacBook Pro Review -
For the ones that recomended the HPenvy, unluckily the IPS PANEL has a terrible color issue with red colors... its well known for its "red issue" problem, where reds seem like orange :s !!! unacceptable for me at least.
Going to check out the Sony S15 mentioned up before. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
you are going to be disappointed, since both use the same panel
