    Hey,

Another question on the MBP series. Once again, Im a photographer and i run alot of photo editing software and i will be running CS2 and Aperature on the MBP. However, i know that screen resolution is important. Between the 15" and 17" will the 1440x 900 be a difference on the 15" than the 1680x 1050 on the 17". I know higher resolution is always better, but does the size of the screen come in to account? The 17" has a much wider screen so do the pixels "spread out"...and the effect of a higher resolution negated?

Also a side note....from what i can tell the only other difference between the two sizes are that the 15" has one less USB prot and a slower optical drive...is there anything else that i am missing? Any other hidden differences between the two?

    Thanks for your help :)

i'm pretty sure those are the only differences....in terms of the screen...you can calculate the dpi but they are probably pretty close. higher resolution will give you more realestate...if your going to be using aperture and cs2 this would probably benefit you a great deal....the menus and such in these apps are a certain pixel size...the dpi will determine how big they are physically....the resolution will determine how many you can fit on the screen.... hope that makes some sense...

The screen res does make a difference. 1680x1050 on a 17" screen is still basically at the point where text, etc. is easy to read. In practical purposes it looks similar to what stuff on a 1440x900 15" screen looks like.

It does help to have extra room for palettes, etc.

If you're really that worried about screen size, I'd take the 15" and use the 300 or so in savings on a nice big widescreen monitor. I know you can get apple displays in the refurbished section for pretty cheap, so that may be something you want to think about.
