    Hi all,

in my struggle to find the perfect laptop i ended up with a whole collection :) . Like the title says I own right now: Sony SZ 3XWP (T7200 Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, Carbon, LED), Sony TX 2 XP (Pentium ULV 1.2Ghz, Carbon, LED), MB 13 Black (Core Duo 2Ghz, 80GB), MBP 17" matte (2,16GHZ Core Duo, 120GB) and I just got me yesterday the MBP 17" glossy (2.33GHz Core2Duo, 200GB HD).

If anyone needs any comparisons, just let me know, I'll try to comply :).
For the beginning, test outdoors, in my garden, sunshine, no clouds:

Apple Glossy Screen better than the matte one (brighter, some reflections but still better to read because the blacks are richer).
Sony SZ same quality at least, maybe a little bit even brighter because of the LED backlight.
Apple MB not bad, but colors are somehow not that rich. Also not so bright.

Even if Sony has a lot of experience wit anti glaring, I'd say Apple a little bit better. Respect Apple, first try is a hit!

BUT: Apple WLAN MISERABLE! I barely get my WLAN signal in the garden, usually losing it. Sony has 3 out of 5 and is absolutely stable!
Apple MB better in this respect but still no match for Sony.

Heat:I don't get that with Apple. They have a very poor cooling design. Don't tell me the old story with aluminium dissipating heat etc. because that's simply not true. The processors INSIDE get at least 10-20 degree Celsius hotter then the Sonys. That's why the casing gets hot. It's not the other way around. That means poor cooling design. Period.

Just out of curiosity, why on earth would you buy that combination of notebooks? I know you are looking for the perfect one, but you are all over the place! BTW, in regards to temp, which Sony are you comparing it to? The SZ or the TX?

I pretty soon found out that one laptop would not suit me.

The MBP 17 is a very good, still portable DTR. I am just in process of replacing it with the new, glossy one.
Nothing comes close to the TX when you are on a long flight, or you have a day full of meetings. Its battery holds for one working day, and its handy enough to carry it under your arm.

That was my initial setup. After some weeks of use, I noticed that, for outside work, the TX screen would be to small, and the MBP unhandy. A 13" screen fits the bill. I started with the black MB, which was cheap enough for a third unit. I am now replacing it with the Sony SZ. The fingerprint sensor, brighter screen, stellar WLAN range and the much lower temperatures on my lap are worth the money. I will end up with the TX, SZ and MBP 17" glossy. Pitty that the both Sony power adapters don't match.

I compared of course the Sony SZ (2GHZ Core2Duo with the 2 MBPs (2.16 Core Duo and 2,33Core2Duo) and the MB (2GHZ CoreDuo). Right now, I am typing this review on my SZ, outside there are 28° C, and I have around 41°C Proc Temp. With the MBPs I'd have around 53° (Core2Duo) and around 65-73° (CoreDuo).
