Will you be able to get a MBP with a 7200rpm HD from other stores like amazon or macmall in the near future, or do you have to go through the Apple Store website to get it?

Buy it somewhere else and get an Apple certified technician to install it for you.

well the price difference is 140 dollars (because it's really the tax i'm saving) so that would end up being the same thing in the end. So does that mean that other retailers don't get those models?

Yesterday I bought my first 15.4" Macbook Pro from macmall with a 200mb 7200rpm HD but I had to buy the 2.6 model, the price was $2644.00

Yes it is a little pricey but Apple wanted $2549 for the 2.5 plus macmall has a sell right now which is $150 off apples price, free shipping, a printer, and Parallel 3.0, so that was the deciding point. I hope I like it never had a mac before.
