Hey guys, a while back I was having a battery issue with my MBP where the moment I take it off the charger the laptop shuts off. It's just over a year now, got it back in August 2007. I took it to the Apple Store to have them check it out but they were unable to reproduce the problem, and since then it hasn't happened... until just this moment.
The unfortunate thing is I didn't elect to get Apple Care, a dumb move on my part. But, what do you guys think Apple would do if I took it to the Apple Store for examination? Would they say that I need to buy a new battery? I don't think its the battery, as it's showing a full charge and iStatPro says it's got good health at 84% with 106 charge cycles at this point.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

sorry to hear about ur battery issues dbam... ahmm.... hopefully the guys at the apple store will be able to diagnose your problem.... might be a loose connection or something ....
as far as the apple care is concerned, i'm not sure it'ld have made a difference... to my knowledge, the battery warranty stays only for the 1 yr irrespective of whether or not u opt for apple care.
Best of luck with it -
I got an appointment with one of the genius people at the Apple Store later today, so I'm going to hope that they can resolve it for me without costing me a dime (wishful thinking).
Worst case scenario, my MBP turns into a somewhat more moveable desktop and I'll have to buy a new laptop (I need mobility).

Got good news
The Genius at the Apple Store found that my battery was actually defective in that it wasn't providing accurate information to the system about it's charge level. So... they gave me a brand new battery free of charge even though that the MBP was out of warranty.
Today is a good day... -
that's awesommmmme news! ... great!
apple, though infuriating at times, can be quite brilliant on occassions... good to see customer satisfaction is still something that they take care of.
Now let's see what happens to cdnalsi's defective gpu
