I don't know if its been covered, but i was converting some files from my PC to new Mac with my flash drive

When I bring it onto the Mac I load everything on - It is fine. But when I trash the files I've loaded (on the flash drive) the drive still shows itself as full... despite the fact ive put all the files on it into the trash bin.

Anyone know what I shoudl do? how do i format on the mac? i hope i dont have to do that every time i want to clean it off.

First off, did you empty the trash cash?

Second how big is this flash drive?

OS X leaves invisible files that can't be seen on OS X, but can be on Windows OS. Try deleting the stuff on the windows first because it might be possible that the format of the flash drive is read only to OS X.

Yeah, after emptying the contents of your flash drive into the recycle bin, you have to go and open up the recycle bin and empty it out before anything will be erased from the flash drive. Also, make sure to eject you flash drive properly, otherwise, missing files and damaged/corrupt files can result.

ah, was the trash bin... i wouldnt have guessed that haha - knew itd be simple though. Windows is too ingrained in my mind.

And yea for ejecting the flsh drive all you have to do is drag it to the bin correct? Thats what I've been doing to unload it.

    Wait was that really it?

You forget to empty the trash can, I'm sorry but thats a bit funny. ;) I'm sure everyone who starts on OS X did that at least once, but the idea behind it isnt that much different from Windows, but on Windows I always used crtl del
