general consensus is get it when you need it, as there will always be something new on the horizon. If you can wait until march, do that - if you cant or dont want to, then dont.

I dont follow the mac rumors too much, but unless something akin to switching to intel processors happens again, I dont think any upgrade to the MBP line will be so substantial that you would regret it 3 months later.

Does it really matter if you have Santa Rosa or Pentryn or is only that you want to have the latest? I know want to have the best and the fastest but sometimes it just does not matter if benchmark is 4874 and not 4356... Have it for Christmas, enjoy December with your new Apple! Carpe diem!!!

If its going to hurt to wait that long (and March is nearly half a year away, keep in mind), then don't wait. Just get a MBP for Christmas. Its not like the next two Intel updates (Penryn and Montevina) is going to obsolete current technology. Core Duo chips are still very fast, considering that applications have yet to catch up with hardware innovation in terms of multi-core usage and such.

Yeah, get it now. The MBP is already very powerful, and waiting until March is quite a long wait.

ya i think i may just go and ahead and convert next month. My main reasons for getting a MBp by the way is for college use and photography. That and the seem so much more reliable and longer lasting then PCs. thanks guys

Can't go wrong with MBP if you like OS-X, and no good reason to wait so long to buy one.
