I am about to pull the trigger on a MBP and I was wondering how the glossy screen looks, is it the same that comes with the MB. My little brother recently purchased a black MB and the glossy screen is excellent, it has very little reflections and looks great. So are they the same?

I could be wrong but I think that the screens on the MBPs are better, but perhaps just resolution-wise. How glossy the screen is between the MB and MBP are the same though I think.

Got the glossy on a 17" hi-res MBP.

I was afraid of the gloss, but now that i've worked with it for the past few days in several different workplaces at home and at work (although not outside). I have not noticed any glare. I am however looking around for ways to clean the screen safely. This is my first glossy LCD screen on a laptop. My previous experiences were all IBM Thinkpads. I would order the glossy screen again if I were to do it all over again. Go for it!

Just for fun, I played around with my brother's MB and I did not find the glossy screen to be a problem at all. I could understand if I am going to be looking at it from an angle and glare could appear, but in that case I can just rotate it.

Why have I head the "about to pull the trigger on a MBP" phrase so many times this week? People just want to shoot Apple products, I guess.

I'd say the MBP glossy is even prettier than the MB glossy, it's just so super bright too, it drowns out the fact that it is glossy at all.

Glossy glare isn't an issue for me, I've been using glossy screens for a couple of years. The MBP glossy screen is very subdued compared to my PC glossy and very high quality, I think it is fantastic and chose it over the matte (which is also a fantastic screen).

Use iKlear, it works really well. Just make sure you follow the instructions. This is the most popular Apple product cleaner that exists. Apple uses it in-house.

Thanks for the link. I'll check into it.

So after a week of having the glossy screen, I have still not had any issues with glaring or anything. Actually, I don't even notice it. I came from a Thinkpad t42p (UXGA + IPS screen). It was bright and clear. I think after 3 years the screen started to dim. But this 17" hi-res glossy is MUCH better. I'm so glad i got the glossy.

However I do notice some backlight bleeding on black screens, but not enough for me to really be bugged by it.
