    Hi All,

I have a brand new MBP Santa Rosa 2.2 GHz. Apple claims battery life is 6 hours.

Now with the display at full brightness and WiFi on, I get about 3. Maybe 3.5 max.

I know others have posted on this thread that they get 5 hours "easily" so I am wondering, is that really true? Could everyone post their battery life? I am wondering if my battery is bad.

I have some upgrades installed in my MBP but I had it running for 3 weeks in stock config with 2GB RAM and 120GB HD, and it was pretty much the same battery life as now.

Please post only if you have a new LED-based MacBook Pro 2.2 or 2.4 - I am not interested in any other model - not that it wouldn't be interesting, but I want to figure out if I have to return my battery or not.

5 hours is with everything on (wifi and anything else) but the brightness set down low. your battery is fine. i very rarely put the screen to full brightness, because it is simply too bright. obviously if its bright outside my preference is up higher (sometimes maxed), at night i prefer considerably dimmer screen (which ends up appearing quite bright). if i am on the battery i will sometimes sacrifice a little screen brightness to get more use out of the battery, if that is my highest priority.

It does not make any sense to lower the screen brightness to the lowest unless you are in a very dark room. I would use the full brightness even when I am on battery. Most of the time I am using a power adapter.
3.5 is not bad at all with everything on. Wifi can use a lot of battery when you are not in a strong-signal area.
If you really want to get 6 hours, turn off your wifi, your bluetooth, and lowest brightness.

I get 4 to 4.5 hours with the brightness set at 4 and surfing the web with wifi on. I find it very usable at that setting.
