I have a MBP (Oct 2008 Model 2.53Mhz with 4gig ram) which I need help with
I have recently had a problem where the computer (when lid is open and computer goes to sleep) will not come out of sleep. The sceen stays blank and will not wake up ( odd, when screen is closed-- it will wake up from sleep mode, just not when computer goes to sleep with lid open). No key actions will prompt a wake up and I have to do a hard shut down with the power button.
Computer is running "Snow Leopard" (installed when Snow Leopard was released) and everything else has been running fine.
Any ideas on why this is happening ????
I have done a "Permissions Repair" to date
Thanks in advance for your help

I experienced this as well. Disabling safe sleep solved my problem. Take a read of this article for steps http://installingcats.com/2008/05/23/how-to-turn-off-safe-sleep/

Also if you upgraded your RAM yourself, some brands of RAM have been known to cause sleep issues with Macs.

Such as? I would like to upgrade my ram and would appreciate if you could mention some of the brands to stay away from.

OCZ RAM in particular from what I've seen on other forums. Also OWC as well even though they are a "Mac shop". The problem from what I understand is that "overclocking friendly" RAM actually exceeds standard RAM specs, and allows the RAM to draw too much current to the module while the Mac is sleeping which will apparently cause the sleep state to get messed up.
Crucial seems to have the best track record of compatibility with Macs IMHO.
