    MBP Battery Problems

    Hello,

    I use my MBP constantly for work, but usually running on AC power. Recently I discovered that my notebook shuts down suddenly when running on battery power. Last night it did this at 80% charge, today after resetting my SMC it lasted until about 43% charge.

    In my system profiler it says:
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 104
    Condition: Check battery

    How do I check my battery?

    I've had this comp for just over a year and my warranty is up. I regrettably did not purchase Apple Care during that year window.

    Any thoughts as to what could be causing this issue? Any solutions?

    I had a very similar problem recently with my MBP suddenly shutting off when I unplugged the power cord. I took it to the Apple Store and had a guru check it out, and they replaced the battery free of charge. I even was out of warranty just like you are, but they replaced the battery anyway. :)

    I'm actually happy with this level of service I've gotten with the Apple Store. Quality of service ranks high in my book for Apple so far. That speaks wonders on when I decide to get a new notebook.
