I've only used it for like 15 mins but here's my first impressions.
The packaging is very impressive. I like how much effort Apple has put in to make the whole process a pleasant experience.
So after connecting the magsafe adapter, I powered the MBP up. It's design is pretty much flawless. Love the thiness, but be just a teeny bit heavy to my liking.
Takes maybe 20-30 seconds on first boot up, not that bad. Put in all my information while setting up Tiger. After all that, I put in my Leopard upgrade disc and do a clean upgrade.
It's currently in the progress of upgrading...I'll let you know more when I have more time to play with it

Congrats on the MBP! It sure is sexy beast...

Hope you njoy using MBP...update us with your experience...will be helpful for lots of people like me who are planning to make a switch...

Thanks guys... installing leopard was going well until it hangs on the create my account (underneath it reads Talking with Apple)....
Should I power it down and restart it?
Is it a known issue? -
Do you have your wireless internet on? Or ethernet cable in?
Talking with Apple (as far as I know) means registering your account through the internet.. Maybe there's something wrong with your connection?
I'd say leave it for another 5 minutes. -
Congrats aprodigy! And yeah...just wait a bit longer before doing anything. Probably connection is bad, or connection to Apple is bad.
-
well it hangs there for like 7-8 hours so I powered it down and restart
well I got into leopard and everything seems to work so I guess it's ok...
currently downloading the new software update -
I hope you enjoy your beautiful new MBP!

Sounds like you solved the problem. Enjoy your new MBP!
And of course, if you haven't already, you can read the New Mac Owner's section of the Mac Switcher's Guide as well as these two guides by Apple that are helpful to new switchers:

Wow...been using it for few hours now.
It's so refreshing to switch from XP. XP is not bad but OSX surpasses it in many ways. Much more intuitive and clean.
I'm using the base model with MBP but upgraded the harddrive. It has been very snappy.
I'm learning the basics now and hopefully will get to enjoy even more of it.
So far i've installed iwork, adium, quicksilver, VLC, transmission and appzapper.
Anything else I should get? -
Another question...how do I transfer my contacts from Thunderbird to Mac's Mail and address book?
And to all those who are waiting to make the jump, I'd say switch now...you won't regret -
Oh and 1 more question...my itunes isn't showing some Chinese songs characters correctly...
I tried the convert ID3 tags but doesn't seem to do anything.
My itunes on the pc used to be able to display those titles correctly. Any clues?
