I have a 2.2 Ghz MBP. I have installed HL2/CS:S/NFS Carbon/STALKER in Windows Vista using bootcamp. Problem is, the games keep crashing or hanging randomly after i have been playing them for some time. I have tried installing them in XP as well but doesnt help. I tried installing the boot camp drivers as well as the drivers from laptopvideo2go but the problem is still there.

This hang/freeze problem hasnt occured in any other case except when playing games. I know apple wont support this issue right now as Boot Camp is still in beta, but can the problem be due to faulty hardware ? I have tried running all memory tests and RAM seems perfect.

Does the sound go into this forever (freezing) loop? If it does, it's like my machine, so you'll have to get a new pair of Realtek audio drivers. Solved my problems...

Just check their website, I don't have it handy, sorry...

    Sounds like:

    -Heat problems
-RAM issues that the RAM tester didn't pick up
    -Driver issues

If it locks or goes unresponsive, I would call HEAT with a good degree of confidence. I bought the bytecc aluminum lap cooler. Normal temps are 36-41 , and about 55-60 under games load. Also D/L SMCfancontrol for OS X and set the fans to about 4K (stll very quiet) it helps a tremendous amount up from 2K. Rather cool if you ask me.

I get a freeze too with MBP/XP and it's not just games. Changing nvidia drivers didn't help (although FPS increased). At times I've gotten a freeze not too long after logging into XP, without having started a game or doing anything else of note. I was guessing that heat had something to do with it, but there are times I can play WoW for hours w/o problems while the MBP gets hot to the touch. Setting the VMWare services (browsed my bootcamp partition in VMWare Fusion) to manual/disabled seems to have stopped the freezes, but I can't be sure.

    Specs: MBP 2.4, 2GB, 8600M GT 256MB, 160GB 5400, XP running in bootcamp on a 32GB partition.

Also, I did some searching when the problem popped up a few weeks ago. I wasn't able to find any threads re: freezing. Perhaps a recent change (firmware/bootcamp drivers) is the culprit. I got my MBP a few weeks ago and started "fresh" w/ bootcamp 1.3. Have folks with previous versions of bootcamp experienced these problems?
