I've hads my new Macbook for just over a month now, and I love it. Just the same, the resolution on my Apple Cinema Display cleans up the floor with the Macbook. It's almost night and day. I can't help but wonder, does the MBP have a screen image comparable to that of the cinema display monitors?

so is that mean u like the macbook display more than your Apple Cinema Display? is that the newest Cinema Display?
-
Well, the resolution on the MBP is 1440x900. I think it's probably my favorite resolution for a 15" screen.
Remember, larger resolutions need a bigger screen, unless you have eagle eyes. I do like the cinema displays, wanna buy me a 30" cinema display? :-D -

resolution isn't the only spec to account for. Contrast, response time, color reproduction, brightness, dot pitch, coating, angle of vision, all these influence the image; also there may be a large subjective component since we all see slightly different. I have seen MBPs and MBs side by side,as well as 17" iMacs and couldn't make out any difference. I have seen Apple Cinema displays but have not been able to compare it to a Macbook/Macbook Pro. I have the impression that the sheer size and resolution of a Cinema display is what makes it being perceived as so good looking; i.e., it doesn't really means it is intrinsically better.

A lot of displays get a lower response time because they don't display a true black (pixel off). They instead make a very dark color pixel. It's much faster taking a dark colored pixel to a bright one, then turning a pixel on. At least, thats my understanding.
But again, I don't really know the exact information regarding these panels. I'm also not sure if these are 6 or 8 bit panels, but from the quality that I see so far, it's 8 bit.
So far, I've been more impressed by the MB/MBP screens compared to the smaller Cinema Displays. Then again, these are glossy and have richer saturation compared to the matte displays.
MBP screen resolution compared to MB
