Nice find... and **** those look like terrible viewing angles.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
I don't really see similar issues with mine to that degree, playing with it last night after I got it home from apple - but it's well known that smaller LCD screens will have smaller viewing sweet spots compared to their larger brethren. Same problem with my 14" Asus...
The color on this baby *pops*, and is better than most out there. -

the angles are different for the mbp and the mb in both those pictures. while the mb looks worse, can we get shots from the same vantage point for both notebooks?

Just finished reading that giz review, its quite nice and definitely worth a read for anyone considering the new mb/p

Never, EVER trust pictures. Make an in person comparison if necessary.

Well, I'm looking at my new MacBook right now, and it's not nearly as bad as those pictures. The vertical viewing angles are disappointing, but the horizontal are quite good.
Either way, both are far better than my M90 which inverts colors at the top and bottom of the screen even looking straight at it. And the colors are very good. Glare isn't an issue either given the brightness. -
My T400 has really dismal vertical angles too, and it has an LG panel. Maybe these have the same thing?

Guys,
I was at the Apple store for a long time today. The difference between the MB and MBP screens is very apparent. The color/contrast inversion on the MB is much worse than on the MBP. I don't see how anyone could do any design on the MB...the top of the screen never looks like the bottom in ANY angle. Conversely, the reflections on the MBP are much worse than on the MB due to its larger screen size (aka more surface area to catch reflections). It's a lose-lose if you ask me.
Again, these are only my opinions and not facts. I was the worlds biggest Apple fanboi until this latest release. *sigh*

Yeah you're right I noticed that too.
Actually at this picture the MB looks better imo. But it may be caused by reflection.Attached Files:

I have to say that neither of these screens look particularly friendly for editors. That being said, neither did the previous screens in my opinion.
If you need a very good screen for photo/video editing, you'll need to get a good external ISA certified screen.
Also, as I typed ISA, I noticed that I had to press the CAPS key several times to get it to come on. Is that normal on Macs? They all seemed to do that at the Apple Store today. -
I know when they introduced the new apple keyboards, thats one of the things that they did. Basically if you accidentally push the caps lock key, it wont turn on, you gotta kinda push it all the way down/intentionally press it. It wouldnt respond if you just quickly and lightly pressed it. I dunno if they brought that feature over into the new keboards, but considering its using the same kinda keys, I guess they mightve, and thats what it kinda sounds like.
Try quickly pressing it, and youll see if it turns on or off. kinda fool around with it for a bit and see how much it takes to press. -
yes the feature is present to avoid accidentally pressing Caps lock
just tried it on my new alu MB..

Is it just me or nobody realise that the 2 laptops are not aligned parallel to each other in order to take relevant pictures to compare refraction issues?
take a second look guys.. -
Why do you think I made this post??
