Hi, I have a early 08 MBP 2.4 GHz with Windows Vista installed via boot camp. Today I was trying to shut down and instinctively pressed the power button which caused the laptop to hibernate. In order to wake it i had to hold down the power button to do a force shut down. Now I can't reboot into the OS X Partition, it just goes to the white screen with the grey apple logo and then powers down. Booting into windows is fine, except I get a message from Macdrive stating that the OS X Drive was not unmounted properly the last time it was used. If i click check for errors, it doesn't find any and I can read the drive perfectly fine from windows explorer. What's the problem and how can I fix it!?

Sounds like something else is wrong. You can't just press the power button and cause the computer to go into hibernation. In OS X when you press the power button the option screen pops up with options to Shut Down, Sleep, Restart or Cancel.

OS X must have become aware of the Vista install. . .

It looks like good ol' OS X decided to end it's life. . .I am deeply sorry for your loss. ^_^

As other's have mentioned, you may want to see about doing a quick backup of data from your OS X partition if you can. And then look into things like a PRAM and SMC reset. After that, probably an Archive and Install.

I've tried holding alt and selecting OSX but that doesn't work. Luckily I regularly back up to time machine. And yes, HLdan I know you can't just press the power button for Vista, but it's instinctive to me since I'm so used to just pressing the power button and then clicking shut down or restart from the window that pops up.

Would trying to boot from the disk help? I really hope I don't have to do a fresh install and restore. Anybody know the best way to go about it?

Next time go into Windows and disable the A mode for Wifi. That will solve the sleep/hibernate issue.

i dont know, but the A mode for wifi is causing a lot of problems in boot camp. it made my computer hickup in games (TF2, war3).. It has something do with it refreshing and jamming the whole thing.

Your Wifi card supports ABGN. You want to disable A via the device settings.
