I have seen numerous times that the old Macbook Pros were unable to properly utilize 512 mb of video ram due to their 128 bit bus. I was wondering if this is still the case in the new macbook pros? Thanks

So is there any usefulness to the models with 512 ram?

Sheesh, the 7900GS in my inspiron e1705 was 256-bit. Why the step backwards? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

It's a mid-range card whereas the 7900 was a high end card. The 7600 only had a 128 bit bus in most configurations as well, with some only having a 64 bit bus.

I see. Just an artificial way to decrease performance and the ability to overclock (for those that like that) as I see it.
