I have a Macbook Pro running leopard. when i click on the wifi sign it rarely shows networks. Its very random. I know theres up to 6 networks i pick up from my house, but alot of the times i view it, it displays nothing. Sometimes it will show the networks.
My wife has a macbook with tiger and hers consistantly displays the available networks.
I keep hoping the updates to leopard will fix it but none have

Are you having any problems connecting to your home network? If not, then why does it matter if you see other people's networks?

Perhaps the MacBook WiFi card is a little more sensitive.....who knows. There's so many factors which could contribute to why you don't see them.

Again however, why does it matter as long as you don't have any problems connecting to your own network.

I travel alot and i don't always know the name of the network offered by a hotel etc. Its nice to have it pop up.
To connect to my own i have to hit join other network, then manually type in the name and password.
Since my wifes works fine i would like to know why mine doesnt display. It seems like a flaw, and i prefer not to have bugs

Do you have "Ask to join new networks" checked?

Is your home network in your "Preferred Networks" list? Are they in the order you would prefer to join them?

Do you have "Remember any network this computer has joined" checked?

How is your wife's MacBook setup with regards to these same settings?

Doesn't sound like a bug at all to me......just sounds like you don't have your settings configured properly.

Because it is an aluminum casing, the MacBook Pro does have weaker wireless detection than the plastic MacBook, just like the iPhone 3G gets better reception because of a plastic rather than aluminum back, but I don't think it'd be that big of an issue. I doubt its a bug or hardware issue, and you're getting on your own network still fine, right?
