    I believe the 2.8GHz is a i7 640M, which is still not a quad-core (begins at 7x0). the 640M does have turbo boost with is capable of 3.46GHz. sweetness.

    I'm pretty optimistic that once apple does make the jump to a quad core it will not have throttling issues like the rest of the laptops I've owned with a i7... cough cough alienware, asus, dell, etc etc.

    I'd take a 640M over any of the quad cores except the extremes and maybe the 840QM.

    It will be interesting to see if Apple goes Quad Core as an option with Sandy Bridge.

    Still contact apple if its close to the 14 days, I have a friend who was in a similar situation, and she was able to get the refresh even though it was after the time.
