I know it maybe a little early but, when do you guys think the next update for the Macbook Air will be? I just got to play around with one the other day and I really liked it. Now I am considering picking one up for my next portable machine.

Minor hardware updates may be sooner, but a complete redesign, I would say at least a year away, unless sales are really that bad.

I for one, think that if any small update is done... they need to add firewire.

I disagree. I just don't see firewire being that "useful" for the MacBook Air. For the MacBook/MacBook Pros? Sure! For the MacBook Air with its 4200rpm hard drive? No sir.

I think all they need is one more usb socket, nothing else.

That'd really make lots people's life much easier.

For me one usb port is enough.

On the road i don't need it. At home I connect it to my hub.

I'd like a faster harddrive though.

I agree one more usb port and a faster harddrive (I know there is ssd but, that price is to steep for me) and I think I am about sold on it.

Sam I think you should know by now that Apple sticks to their designs for 3-4 years at least before making any real changes. I'm sure we can expect to see several revisions before any real redesign.

Only design change I'd like to see is better fan location in the back, Open it up more where the screen folds. Aside from that, sure just there regular spec updates would be fine. It's still a beauty to me !

I've looked at the Intel CPU roadmap and the next time I see a Macbook Air update is Macworld January 2009. I see a CPU change to 45nm processor, which will have 3TDP lower heat, which will give it longer battery life. Most likely by then we'll see refreshed HDD/SDD options. I don't see any of the chassis changes that people talk about.

Of course, I could be wrong about these things-- just a guess.
