I found Mac OS X install discs, with the following details....
    Mac OS version: 10.4.6
    AHT version: 3A104
    Disc version: 1.0

If i install this into my early 2008 white macbook, want to do a factory reset, can i upgrade it to 10.5.6 via the software upgrade. thanks

No you can't. 10.4.x is called Tiger where as 10.5.x is called Leopard. They're technically two different operating systems.

A 10.4.6 disc might also not even install properly since it doesn't have the correct drivers for Macs made after the disc was made. Tiger was also available in separate discs for Intel and PowerPC. If the disc is PowerPC, then it won't work on a MacBook at all.

I had an 2006 Macbook, so this is where i got this from. the macbooks updates worked weekly as schedule. I just never really checked if the macbook updated itself to 10.5
so essentially, this only works on 2006 models and below???

it'll work on any intel macbook. you just wont be able to upgrade to 10.5.x without buying a copy of leopard.

i dont think you can install tiger on systems that came out after the release of leopard. not sure about that though. anyway, it would have to be the retail disc, if its even possible. system discs can only be installed on the same time of system. ie- my mid 2007 macbook pro install discs only work on the same generation of macbook pro.

10.4 - Tiger can only update to a maximum 10.4.11 (if I'm not mistaken).

If you want to upgrade to Leopard you will need to buy it.
