I will be using a Mac 3,1 with OSX 10.6.6. I am wondering if anyone has run Neooffice and compared it to MS Office for Mac and how each are different (strengths and weaknesses). I have MS Office 07 on my windows machine and I have seen that the writer (MS word equivalent) is comparable, but excel is ahead compared to the simple Calc (i believe that is excel on openoffice) which lags behind. Is that the same case for Neo Office?

Also, are there any good resources for a person to learn about Macs as I am a windows guy.

Neo Office is a fork of open office. It is typically a bit behind the newest version of open office/ libre office.

You will also run into issues if you go with anything other than MS Office when opening Excel files that have specific macros. I am not sure if you use macros or not but I do for my job and they are compatible with Excel only. OpenOffice, iWork, Neo Office, etc. don't work with them leaving with nice, big, empty cells.

But from what I have read, Open office for mac doesn't integrate that well as NeoOffice?

As for macros, I haven't used them yet and I don't think I would in the future but I guess it is nice to know about the problem.
