Enjoy!

Hahahahahahaha...fairly powerful processor, very little room for cooling, and either a small or no fan. That thin of a frame...battery discharge creating heat...
Yeah, I'm sure the laptop is cooler than the other Apple's, which actually do have decent cooling from what I hear.
Not to say the MBA does not run cool enough...I just do not think it runs *that* cool. -
I'm waiting for NBR's review
-
Do they have one
-
PC sites always skew reviews. Im waiting for user impressions on Mac Forums.
anything else is really speculation. Im not interested in buying a MBA ever though, not enough UMMMPPHHHH -
Yeah, I don't believe it for a second.
He probably used one of the older MBP that ran hot ALL the time (even when it was doing nothing). I know I can use my laptop for hours without it getting very hot (unless I'm gaming). -
It should run cooler since they took out so many components and ports
-
And should be even more cooler with the SSD...
-
Uh... no. The only thing they took out was the optical drive. That does not create much heat. The processor, RAM, and hard drives are what gets hot. The MBA still has those. The SSD drive will still get hot, some have reported they get hotter than normal HDD, but it's hard to say how this one will be as no one has actually done a full review on final version.
-
I would be willing to give a fair review, if we managed to get a MBA...of course if we get one I'd bet the admins would be eager to have a shot with it.
-
Well, even if its true, saying a notebook runs cooler than a MBP isn't exactly saying a lot xD.
-
Am I the only one who found this reviews intro a little...strange?
-
Same here. The rest of the review was lacking in just about all substance as well, and was obviously very biased (I hate marketing that tries to dress up as a "review"). However, I don't really expect good reviews from Newsweek so it's not that much of a disappointment.
Definitely looking forward to a real review from NBR; I'm not at all interested in the MBA but I'm still curious to see how this thing holds up to some quality review action.
-
I believe one of the administrators are in the process of waiting for it to ship and review
.
I don't generally rely on one review to make my judgement...because for example, I really dislike CNET's reviews, as sometimes they make bad mistakes (noting that a 15.4-inch notebook has a "gorgeous 17-inch display" with the notebook right in front of the reviewer
) and I don't generally like their opinions on things. I'll wait for more reviews to come in.
I'll have to say though, I do enjoy Ars Technica's reviews
.

Actually it is in fact very cool running. I was at Macworld last week and I put the MBA to the test. I opened iMovie which uses a lot of system resources and played the included sample movies and the bottom of the MBA warmed only a little. At Macworld these lappys are running for hours on end and people are groping them and playing with them and many of them very cool to the touch. -
Good to hear, hldan! I'd like to see how Apple plans to evolve the MBA in the future...it can certainly grab a larger audience if they add in some of the "missing" things and drop its price!
-
I'll review it... but make sure everybody else gets it first. It'll come back broken.
"When Modly forgot his laptop was under the hood while doing some Megasquirt tuning, it went for a quarter mile ride pinched between the fender and the hood on the potholed roads of Michigan".
(For the record, that happened to my first CF-28). -
Here's a compilation of 4 mainstream reviews (including a couple of mac fanboys in Mossberg and Pogue):

Here's a pretty balanced review from Engadget:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/25/macbook-air-review/
Pretty everyone says it's really cool looking, but it would be a strain to have it as your main computer. They all get around 3.5 hours battery life on low settings and 2.5 hours watching a movie. The 1.8" disk is also really slow. The bottom line is that it's cool looking but pretty limited and very expensive for a secondary computer. -
I would like to see Apple change the MB from plastic to metal or at least some parts of it. I completely dislike the plastic palmrest and trackpad button. I've had too many issues with those two items on my wife's and my own MB. It would be cool to see the backlit keyboard on the MB.
Sam you know as well as I that the MBA's price isn't going to drop anytime soon (the iPhone was a fluke). -
Yeah, unfortunately. The iPhone was definitely an exception, considering how much pressure it has to do well. The MBA is probably going to do okay, for its targeted market. I just feel it could grow more and garner less criticism
D) if Apple tried to fix some things...

That review is right on. -
It's just a rant. It's not a good review. Also it really doesn't matter how much profit Apple is making does it? What can you do? Buy it if you like it, pass on it if you don't.
Also I don't know how much profit Apple is truly making because it's the only Mac they make that doesn't include the Apple remote. It's sold separately. -
I don't treat reviews professionally if the webpage is titled "Untitled Document"
.
-
Although his opinion and mine are generally the same.... that was a very immature, and unprofessional "review." xD
