I want to connect my 2010 MacBook Pro to my HDTV, for editing in Final Cut Express.
I want to connect via a single cable, so HDMI, and want audio as well as video, as I believe my laptop should be capable of this?
Can someone tell me exactly which adaptor I need......since I want to ensure I dont end up with a video-only adaptor.
A part number or something would be good, so I can then look for the best prices! lol

You need an adapter such as this:
Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support - Apple Store (U.S.)
and a normal hdmi cable to connect.
I dont think there is an offical adapter from Apple but just 3rd party. -
Monoprice.com is the best for cables and adapters...
For the 2010 MBPs, if you already have an HDMI cable to use, you can get this: For only $6.30 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter | Mini DisplayPort to HDMI / DVI / VGA Adapters
Or you can simply get a MDP to HDMI cable (they have varying lengths): For only $7.42 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 6FT 32AWG Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable - White | Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cables -
Excellent. Cheers.

Monoprice might have cheap HDMI adapters... but they do NOT support audio.... better to buy one a bit more expensive that can run audio as well.
-
That blows.
Do the MDP to HDMI cables support audio? -
if wired correctly, yes.
I guess he says monoprice doesnt support audio, make sure you check the listing to see if it does before you buy from another site. -
The solution is simple. Buy the Moshi.
I have one..bought it from the Apple Store. the audio works great. -
Awesome, thanks for the heads up, will order when I get home.
-
Not so simple, since I cant find the Moshi in the UK!
