According to MacPrices ( http://www.pcprices.net, the very best pricing on the new MBP 13" is from MacConnection.
Conventional wisdom says that if the price is right, the supplier reasonable, then this is the way to go. They don't charge sales tax, and with the rebate, they are $100.00 less than the nearest competitor.
The last time I bought from from MacConnection, it was a MacBook Unibody 13" with a $75.00 rebate. Getting the actual rebate was a rather hellish experience, as it seemed to me to be just their way to increase their margins. After the ubiquitous waiting period of some 8 weeks, they first summarily dismissed my rebate submission as not eligible. Second, they said I submitted the wrong form. After numerous emails and phone calls, they finally agreed that my original paperwork was in perfect order and completely eligible. This follow-up process consumed several hours of my time. The $75.00 was probably not worth it. I was left with the distinct feeling that the whole process was being handled by a loss prevention department whose purpose it was to shake loose as many rebates out of the process as possible by making the experience so onerous that only the most diligent of customers would survive to get their check.
My question is this. If you also applied for a system purchase rebate with MacConnection, did you experience something similar?
I am wanting to buy another system, and want to see if my experience was isolated, or not.
Hey, I can live without the $100.00, but it is the principle of the thing. If I deserve it, I darn well better get it. If it is all for naught, I just don't want to deal with that kind of company. I would just like to know if they are reputable, and my prior experience was abnormal.

Ebay often has good deals. May be worth a look.
For example: this guy: http://computers.shop.ebay.com/Appl...ssn=electronic-king-inc&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282
His prices are negotiable and there's 8% rebate through Bing. -
Always keep hard and scanned copies of everything. That's exactly what I'm planning to do. Part of the benefit of buying this notebook 2-3 months before school starts is I have time to fight for my rebate.
