I purchased the new MacBook pro 15.4 inch with LED screen. I was promised it would come in within 3-5 days, now they are saying it could be 1-3 weeks. So I am wondering, has anyone else been a victim of this "delay"?

i havent ordered one personally, but I do remember reading a few days back about delays being due to screen issues with the led backlit displays (yellow hue ) not sure though
-
Did you make an upgrade to it?
When I bought my MBP I upgrade from 1 to 2GB of RAM. The shipping time went from 2 days to a week and a half. The reason for this is because they ship modified macbooks from China instead of their distribution centers in America. -
I was really thrilled about getting this soon, it was supposed to be my birthday present. -Sigh- Then the store wanted me to buy the '17 inch model, but since I already ordered and got the case, that only supports the '15.4 inch, I guess I have no choice but to wait the full 1-3 weeks. It will be a hard wait, I don't know if I will make it! x_x

well I bought my MBP 3 days ago. Didn't face any delays. In fact it came super fast! Bought my MBP from the Apple store online in Singapore at 2pm. Used the education discount. The store said I would get my MBP in 7-10 Business days. I was surprised to receive an email at 5pm that my MBP had shipped. At 8pm, a delivery man came to give me my MBP. gosh was I shocked.

Well, we just ordered yesterday, and it'll be 1-2 weeks.
-
It took my MBP 19 days to arrive at my house. I had a custom order.
I think it was July 7th that I ordered, it got here July 26. -
I ordered 3 days ago, ETA is within the 1st week of August. Groovy. Can't wait.
-
They seem to be having a tough time filling orders since they came out with the SR version, so expect to wait a little.

I purchased mine on 7/21 and I expect to see it come in around 8/6; if you order a customized version it significantly increases the time till shipment. I also chose the expedited shipping so that I do not have to wait another week for shipping. I am being very patient, considering that my iPod and printer arrived two days after I purchased it. You have to remember that it is right before school starts and they are probably swamped.

Singapore just has ridiculously good service. Shipping inside of 3 hours? That's really unheard of...
My experience w/ Singapore - apart from the fact that everyone in the Apple shops seemed to be knowledgable and friendly - was that I got some extra RAM with my Powerbook which turned out to be bad. I live in Thailand and was already back when I noticed this, so I just sent them the bad RAM via mail with a copy of the receipt and less than a week later got a very nice apology letter along with new and working RAM. Impressive. -
Why are the MBPs so hard to get? Are they selling so many or shipping so few?
When I got mine, it was the last 2.2 one in the bay area at the time + I decided to customize it myself as that was cheaper, faster, and better (no 200GB/7200 RPM drive from Apple). -
From what I've heard they're selling a lot and there's a shortage of LED screens so production is slower too.

All the santa rosa laptops have shipping problems. Dell (1520,1720, M1330 all delayed/slow), Compal (IFL90 with the higher resolution screen is taking really long), Zepto (is a ok now but was delayed a lot). Lenovo also had problems I think. Asus is shipping pretty fast but they have not released any high demand model. Once the F8sv and V1 and V2 come out we might see problems from them. Samsung keeps delaying the X65.
I think everybody is just having a hard time finding a steady supply of parts. -
Ordered mine on monday (I live in South Africa) was told the new shipment is either coming from USA or China and that "it can take up to 3 weeks" - I have no info other than that! Its killing me!
