    Hi,

I am heavy user and need a system which can run 15 hours a day.

I am not engineer or architecture too. but having heavy data usage for office Purpose.

I am confused between window base Dell workstation and MacBook Pro.

Please share your experience with it, is it good enough for 15 hours a day ?

Can we replace its battery in future ? As it is inbuilt in it.

    Thanks

No experience with the current macbook pros, but I did run my dell for 24 hours non stop without any issues. The current retina 15" has better designed cooling than the non retina models, but I have no first hand experience with it. Macbook Pro Retinas are the epitome of non replaceable parts though. Technically you can replace the battery, but it requries a lot of disassembly and such.

can you replace the battery ..... theoretically yes, ... have many wrecked the case or mainboard doing so .... yes.
in that instance I would say let apple do it and pay the $250

the big questions are what are you going to be doing with your unit and what are your needs. I have retina MacBook Pro's, as well as HP and Dell workstations and they all have their places, advantages and disadvantages.

as for times running. I have ran an rMBP on a light render ( throttled speed ) for 30 hours and I have ran an M6700 workstation for over 300 hours .....

For me it is do I need OSX on the unit as its main OS ... then rMBP
do I need durable and ultra reliable . workstation
do I need the NBD support/accidental and next to no downtime ... workstation
do I need to have the brand name to work with certain clients ... which ever is applicable
I find that for 15 hours of light usage you can pretty much any laptop in existence as long as you keep the fans clear and do not abuse it too much.

if you post up over in the WNSIB forum and fill out the form we can probably help you far more

Thanks for such detail and knowledgeable reply.

I think, Workstation will be better.

last workstation was launched in 2013 that were M4800 and M6800.

do you have any idea for new version/series ?

    Thanks

Precision M6700. We're expecting Dell to launch a refresh of the precision line late 2015 early 2016 by the way.
