I have a quick question. Is the MacBook Pro the new iBook or the new PowerBook? And when will the other one come out?
-
The MacBook Pro is the new PB. Intel iBooks are due out this June.
-
how much will intel ibooks cost?
-
It's the new PowerBook, couldn't you tell by the look? =S
I'm guessing they'll not cost any more than $1250... The starting one.
Just a shot in the dark though. -
They simply changed the name from Powerbook to MacBook since they couldn't very well call it that any more since it no longer uses a PowerPC processor.
-
Steve Jobs wants all the new models to have the name "Mac" in them to help try and differentiate them from Windows computers, since they now have Intel CPUs.
I estimate the new iBook models should start at around 1000-1100 USD. -
Oh, okay. I was just repeating information I had read elsewhere after Macworld earlier this year. Thanks.
-
I'm personally with the crowd that hates the MacBook Pro's name - you could've thought that Apple could have come up with a better name. Steve Jobs said they wanted to work "Mac" into all of their upcomming Intel models this year, so I don't know how they'll handle the iBook. I just hope they don't change the iBook's name to iMacBook or iBookMac or something horrid like that.
-
iMacBook?
MaciBook?
MacBooki?
MacBook Home? -
Quite simply it will be the "Macbook", the seperator being the "Pro"
-
New PowerBook -
I like MacBook Home better.
-
The new intel powered ibook will be called the "Macbook"
-
Haha.. quite possibly the funniest post I've read all day.
And yes... the Macbook Pro is the new Powerbook, whereas the Macbook will be the new iBoo
(As far I know, at least) -
mmmmm might be an interesting option if it had dedicated graphics (something like a 128 mg x1500 or some other unique model like the 9550 that it used to have)
-
Well, there's no such thing as the X1500 (there aren't as many variants of models available today as there were before). I'm guessing Apple will use the X1400 in their 13.3" and 14" models and a X1300 in their 12" model.

Kinda like a Macdonald's stationery product spinoff eh?
-
Either when the iBooks are released, or when Apple updates their entire notebook line with Intel Merom.
MacBook Pro- new iBook?
