You won't see a review for about another month or two at the least. Based on how scarce Macs are around here, you could be waiting up to 4 months.

I received mine yesterday. It's awesome. Everything's great, especially the new charger. Front Row works really well. iPhoto is noticeably faster especially at scrolling; however, non-universal programs do run slower i.e. Office. Overall, it's great!

Sorry, no pics (I forgot to login before making the last post). The screen is markedly better then the one in my 15" Powerbook 1.25Ghz. Everything is much, much faster, even in emulation. Running into a few snags here and there, though. Like in order to use a lot of plugins for Safari or QT, you have to force them to run in Rosetta, which means a performance hit. Not as much of an issue with Safari as it is with QTPlayer.

Battery life isn't terrible, but it isn't remarkable either. I was averaging 3.5-4 hours with my 2 year old Powerbook. Right now the battery is at 52% and it says I have 1:32 remaning. This is surfing the net over airport, copying files from the Powerbook (also over airport), and installing Windows 2000 in Q.

I'm looking at ordering a Macbook Pro but I have read some information that Virtual PC 7 doesn't work on the Intel Macs, can anybody recommend another product or fix for this.

    Thanks

    Neil.

Q works really well and it is free. I've been using Windows 2000 inside of it since I got my computer.

I am still waiting for mine. I wish that i was one of the lucky few who have theirs already.
I ordered mine on February the 8th and my initial ship date was the 25th of February but it got back to March 3rd because of the upgrade. I have to wait until around the 15th to expect delivery of my notebook. I wonder why it takes so long to deliver it? The upgrade was nice but i am really fed up with waiting now.
I wonder where it is coming from? I know some people who ordered the iMac intel Mac Core duo and who got it 24 hours later.

If i had to wait another week to ship i think that i could lose interest in it.

well, the imacs were available right away, and the macbook pro wasn't ready, and it would depend on when you got your order in. you wouldn't get your book untill people before you do.

Just received the one I'm giving my daughter for her graduation. It's a beauty - extremely well-designed, built like a tank, beautiful to look at. This is my first exposure to Mac OSX and I think it's very nice from what little I did on it to shake it down. Seems pretty snappy for what I saw, but I may be a little spoiled because I recently bought an Acer 8204, which is nominally a bit faster. For build quality and class, the Apple takes it - I had to have windows for work.

Yes, please. Virtual PC is probably a long way off from being Macinteltosh compatible and I'm sure the wifey would breathe much easier knowing there is another option out there. :)

Hold on. Q works on the intel macs but you cannot install new software on the images. You must 1st install on an old PPC partition then import the image to the new intel mac and then use it. For this reason, I am cancelling my macbook pro. I may pick up one few months down the line when virtualization or emulation of windows is more complete.

Ah, "Q" = "qemu". Now I recognize it. :p Played with the Linux binary a bit on my FC4 machine a while back (went back to VMWare - less configuration hassle). Didn't realize there was an OS X version. Thanks!
