I have a new macpro.. i bought a AT&T wireless usb plug that fits perfectly and works great...Then i bought the highly rated logitech vx nano wireless mouse which comes with a tiny usb plug which could be left in the usb slot...So whats the problem?? both devices cant fit at the same time [/I][/B]on the laptop becuase there is not enough space for the both usb plugs to be occupied. Is there a solution to this?? Are there any adapters that I can use which will allow either one (Preferably the ATT wireless) to be plugged into another slot on the Macpro???

Complain to the companies that manufacture USB plugs too wide to allow additional devices to sit next to them.

I'm guessing you mean Macbook Pro rather than the Mac Pro which is a desktop. In any case, I think the only solution is to get a USB hub or a USB extension cable.
And in this case for the Unibody Macbook Pro it really is Apple's fault. All the ports are on one side and they are just too tightly packed. Even with the additional room on the new 17", the spacing of the ports still look the same. It's such an obvious issue, it's hard to believe Apple missed it so perhaps they just don't care. -
thank you so much, I was pulling my hair out figuring out what to do.. USB hub? it seems to solve this - i'll try it
-
Exactly.....standardized spacing of USB plugs. Take ANY laptop with two USB ports side by side and I'm willing to bet they're all spaced the same.
Sorry, but you're wrong. Blame the manufacturers who insist on making wider USB plugs/devices. -

I don't know, I think the spacing in between these 2 USB ports is larger than the new Unibodies. The gap between the ports looks more than 50% of the width of a USB port while on the MBP it's more like 25%.

I've compared my MacBook to 3 other laptops in the house, and the USB ports are all spaced the same. One's a Dell, one's a Toshiba, and the third is an Asus.
-
Use a bluetooth mouse. Simple.
-
Cost of a quality Bluetooth mouse is higher than some people are willing to pay. I had to hook up with a Microsoft Wireless 3000 because I was lacking enough for a decent mouse...
-
I have the same problem when trying to use my VX nano mouse and my Cruzer flash drive. I previously had a Sony SZ650 and both devices fit fine together.
-
Yeah, Apple put their ports closer together than most other manufacturers. I had to spring for a USB hub when I had a MacBook. Now that I have my Benq, the ports are much better spaced.
-
Get a dremel, and grind out some of the plastic around the oversized plug.
A side note, I know you meant MacBook Pro, but since I've got a Mac Pro...
I've got 5 USB devices plugged in right now. None of my cables touch. I've got .105" spacing on the front panel, and .185" on the rear.

Funny, Gizmodo editor has the same problem at CES ....

Try a Bluetooth mouse or Express card broadband modem, if you don't want wires everywhere. -
I want to see a USB express card that sits flush or nearly flush in the slot.
-
use short usb extender

like this

Sorry, but you're wrong. There's a youtube vid on the spacing of the USB plugs of the unibody mbp and the previous gen mbp. He used two USB dongles which fit perfectly side by side on the old mbp, but had a hard time fitting with the new mpb. The unibody mbp made the spaces smaller. There is no standardized spacing of USB plugs.

get the MOUSE 5000 by Microsoft, great bluetooth moused... just as good as the nano (i used the nano for 2 years, but change to microsoft so i can use bluetooth)
-
it really is apple's fault. this is the price you pay for being stylish. i can't fit an oversized usb device on the left side of my SR MBP if i'm using an ac adapter.
-
, what kind of stuff are you guys plugging in to your laptop?
I have a MBP and i can easily fit my iphone + external hd. -
How big are we talking here?
-
that's a good fit.
-
Good thing I was referring to the MacBook, and not the Pro! Phew!
-
It is annoying how people have to buy all these extra USB cables and such for the MB/MBP/MBA just to fit peripherals in. It kind of defeats the purpose of portability.
-
Engadget did an article about this a while back (or was it someone else?).
-
Gizmodo here

I still want to know what type of USB peripheral he's talking about here.
MacPro usb slots -NO Space for "plug ins"
