Hello everyone! I'm a Architecture student and I'm thinking about purchasing a MB to take with me to class and do some work while I'm travelling to and from college. The reason I'm leaning towards the MB is because of its size and also its about AU$1000 cheaper than the MBP.

I dont really need a big screen to do work on ArchiCAD because my college provides Apple Desktops and I could probably leave the 3D rendering and such to do on my home PC. I wont be doing any intense 3D rendering on the laptop.

The questions I want to ask is if the MB will be able to handle ArchiCAD? Or is it really worth it to fork out that extra $1000 to get the MBP?

    Thanks in advance for replies!

im pretty sure that getting a macbook to do 3d rendering doesn't make sense. either get a macbook pro or a different notebook with dedicated graphics.

You probably need the MBP. If you don't want to spend a whole lot extra look at used models on ebay that already have AppleCare, or even refurbished models on apple.com/store

being an archi student as well, os x can be kind of limiting because of unsupported programs, just something to keep in mind, obviously depends on what programs you intend to use.
