I don't know if this is my mistake setting.
Everytime I open the cover of my Macbook, It waked up with a "loud" seeking sound from CDROM(I hear this when computer start up too...).
I just wondering if this is normal for Macbook or it is a defect.
I ask several people but some of them said it is normal some said no......
It become a little annoy since when I was sitting in a talk and want to check something from Internet, when I open the cover, the funny sound make everybody turned their head to me, kind of embarrass..

its normal, unless its a painful grinding sound. if your cds/dvds work fine, then the sound is normal.

Yea, it pretty much is taking in a dvd if its partially inserted into the dvd drive. (IIRC)

every macbook and mbp ive seen has done it, (havnt seen the new ones), and it sounds different depending on the model of dvd drive you have.

So there is no way to turn it off?
As I check today in school's computer store.
The CDRW/DVD combo sound is horrible while the DVD/RW in higher model sounds ok....
