Question.
How long it takes to Apple to relase updated version of new unibody macbook 13![]()
Looking for new laptop. This new Mac is perfect for my needs but after playing a bit with it display its a dealbreaker. There is Pro but it seams a bit to pricy. My hopes ar that they would place a better quality display in future models. Likely to happen ?

I wouldn't expect any significant updates until Intel releases a new platform, Capella. This is probably not going to be until the end of 2009, so you could expect a macbook series refresh at the beginning of 2010.
If the Pro is too expensive, consider buying it refurbished... -
~summer I guess.and they ll upgrade their CPU's to nehalhem ~November.
-
We are also not sure they will be upgrading the screen. you may wait and find that you have been waiting for nothing. As suggested above, you may go for the refurbished ones. these are near new and some are even new(Returned within 14 days).
-
Thanks everybody. I'll go for the pro then
-
Nice choice! It has quite a bit of power, and it'll surely be great for whatever you can put it through!
-
Apple might switch to oled but that is at least 2 years away i think
-
I can't understand what people have against the macbook's screen i've been comparing it the my friend's macbook pro's one and it was pretty much the same if not exactly the same. I had a problem only once, the time I worked during a really sunny day, sitting next to the window... It has been perfect and every other situations I've faced... whatever...

What screen do you have? 9C89 or 9C8C?
-
No idea... How do I check that out? Is their one that is supposed to be better?
-
What... I had no idea that they made different screens like that..
What is the difference..? -
Go to System Preferences > Displays > Color > Open Profile > and scroll down to "13" and look under "Model" and it will tell you either 9C89 or 9c8C. The 9c8C is supposed to be better, with viewing angles and contrast, but I don't really see a difference.
-
Hmmm mine is a 9C8A... I dunno what it means...
-
Are you sure?
There's supposed to only be a 9C89 and a 9C8c...
It should look like this:

there's definitely a bunch of different screens in the alubooks. LG, samsung, and chi-mei are three of the makers that come to mind.

a quick google search and it seems you have the samsung screen.
not very many of them in the wild. you should see if the calibrated profile makes it look any better: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=594528 -
Yep, 9C8A is a Samsung.
9C89 - LG Philips
9C8C - AUO
Like Colton, mine is also a 9C89. -
There are a couple of good calibrations for the unibody MB in the following link too:

Mine is 9C5B.

9C89 LG PHILIPS BABY ! ! !
I really hope I can switch my MacBook with a new one if they increase the resolution, have a higher color gamut and brightness, possibly oled?
And if the new Nehalem are 2.5-2.6GHz,1333Mhz RAM (I seriously thought DDR3 was 1333Mhz not 1067Mhz, WTH!?!) and 6-8MB Cache
Then im definitely going for it!
Not to mention that Apple might even have 3.2-5MP webcams so we can have High Def iChats or even fullscreen Photobooth :] -
I agree with you there is nothing wrong with it..there are some guys that look at the monitor not straight up but from above or bottom or sideways and have problems with it....but who cares if the image is washed out at those viewing angles...those are the people who wipe the keyboard all the time cuz the fingerprints might make the keyboard shine and it is not good..I bought my laptop to use it and sometimes abuse it not to treat it like it is some sort of precious machine because it is not.
-
I agree with the first part, but I treat my machine like a precious machine.
-
The pro is definitely a good machine.
@Colton: Our macs are too precious!!! I care much about mine!!! -
I treat mine like a baby!
An investment like a computer is too valuable to just toss around or not be extremely careful with.
