    Hey All....

Well I put it off long enough!! I just ordered my Macbook air, expected date is March 25-31st!

I'm a huge fan of all Apple notebook products and look forward to the Air.. Anyone on here got the Air that has pro's \ con's for it?

I currently have a Macbook Pro and my wife a Macbook see signature for details on the machines.

    Anyway I'm counting the days!

Congrats! You're getting a fine machine. Did you opt for the SSD or the 80 gig drive?

Hey, congrats Durious! Tell us how it goes! :)

I tried out a MacBook Air for the first time on Friday...man, is that thing thin! And amazingly sturdy, for a notebook that size.

Oh since i got the MBP just last August my wife would behead me if I got the SSD! hehe... I haven't got the time capsule yet so the extra 16 gb I had to opt for.

I got the 1.6 Ghz, 80 gb machine with a superdrive and a usb ethernet adapter (some hotels I stay at only have wired in the rooms ugh!)

Only peripheral I think should have been included would be the ethernet the rest I can personally live without based on how I used ultraportables.

I'm actually selling my Macbook Pro just because I find it's great and fast but I haven't been using it's potential as much as I figured. Video editting aside I can do that quickly enough on the Macbook so I wanted to opt for more portability. Gaming is the way of my 360 \ Wii

Good to hear Sam, in New Brunswick we are sad without a Apple store. Waiting so long for shipping brings tears to my eyes when most people can go down the street the the "big apple" hehe. Watched a lot of youtube videos on it and looked for mainly the complaints and frankly out of all of them nothing displeased me for what I was looking into it for.

No Apple Store in Vancouver yet either!

But its under construction, so at least we're going to get it. Supposed to open in the spring, yay!

    Congrats!

I wonder if the superdrive also has a usb hub so you don't have to unplug the superdrive to use the wired ethernet?

I'm looking at a 9 inch Asus EEE running Linux as my "light weight road machine" but I'd go for the 'Air if I could swing it. With a Mac on the road, I can use "back to my mac" from any hotspot and do real work by sharing my home machine's screen. This makes a lot of those arguments about the usefulness of the MBA sound rather silly. I guess I could use vnc from an EEE, but I don't want to poke a hole in my router/firewall to allow incoming vnc.

Let us know how the 'Air works out for you!

Oh nice! Maybe that's what I should do open a Apple store myself haha... But I see your on Tiger. The Air will be my first trial at Leopard so I'll let you know how that goes as well. Really interested in Stacks / Spaces, however not so much time machine as I don't have the time capsule I don't want to backup to a already small HD of 80 gb. ugh..!

Vancouver's a beautiful town. That'd be one of the first places I'd put a store. By some sick irony, we got two Apple stores in Detroit. So much for us being dead last all the time.

I don't think the superdrive has the hub with it, I think the superdrive will stay home and I'll just travel with the ethernet adapter. But man I seen the Asus I find that is a pretty awesome piece of hardware. What's that run Ubuntu?

    Congratulations on your new purchase.

I guess we’re pretty spoiled. I’m used to seeing an Apple store in every mall I go to. That’s the beauty of living in California.

Congrats on your new machine! :) Like Sam, I also tried it for the first time on friday and the design is gorrgeouss. x)

AUG! Spring 2008 must come sooner. The black "sheets" have been changed into black walls at the to-be Vancouver store with a nice white Apple logo. How exciting. :D

    Yes. It runs Ubuntu.

[Moderator's Message: NBR does not support or allow discussion on running Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware, just a reminder =)]

Is Leopard's spaces work like Ubunto multi-desktop?
