Which do you use more? I generally hate trackpads and always avoided them cause they were a pain in the (you know what). Until I got a MBP and the trackpad on it is amazing. I find when Im out now I no longer have to carry around my cordless mouse cause the trackpad on macs are so good. For general use, I actually find the MBP trackpad is just as good as a mouse.

if those are my only options... I'd choose trackpad, as i do use it the most... if it was most PC brand trackpads... they are horrid and I'd only use a trackball. I do not like any type of mouse though at any time.

Just curious why you dont like using mice? Stuff like photo editing or photoshopping a mouse is still king.

i find it easier to move fingers or a thumb over a whole hand and arm. Some people have precision problems doing that, but I do not... very good control over minor finger movements.

thats true doh123. Using a mouse is a lot of strain on your hand and wrist. A lot of wrist action.

Do you guys use the 2 finger scroll up/down and 3 finger swipe left/right to go back and forward between web pages alot? I find i use it all the time and no longer have to hit the browser back button or browser scroll bar ever. Same with the 2 finger tap to bring up the right click menu. Amazing features.

Any other great features on the MBP trackpad that are exclusive on macs?

I am sad that Wacom tablet is not on the list. :(

Most of those features are available on laptops with Synaptic touch pads (and a few other brands).

    3 finger swipe: genius.

I only wish I could program 4 finger swipe to close/open Chrome tab.

I have the glossy trackpad and I know some people hate it, but I rather have it than those matte trackpads you find on thinkpads. Sure, if you have wet or sweaty fingers then you might have a problem.

Look at BetterTouchTool, if there's shortcuts for opening/closing tabs in Chrome you will be able to map them to swipes on your trackpad.

my wacom cintiq is king of photoshop. Mouse is still king for InDesign & Video Games.

    Trackpad rules the internet.

I usually work a lot on excel files: moving, cutting, pasting, etc., for these tasks a good mouse is the best option to me (i've given several chances to the trackpad for this, but no way to get use to it). Then for this I go with the mouse and I always carry one. For other tasks, the trackpad. So, the poll should include another option: both (everywhere), or delete "trackpad out, mouse at home".

I like to use the external trackpad and the Apple mouse but I went this morning to buy a Microsoft Mouse as I have to use Windows from time to time (at the moment, it's to do taxes) and the Apple stuff doesn't work that well on Windows so I'm going to just use the Microsoft ArcMouse with my MBP.

The Apple Mouse is okay but the touch stuff really doesn't work that well on a small surface which is why I like both the trackpad and the mouse when there's enough space. If I'm at a small table at Starbucks, the TrackPad works best by itself.

It feels awkward to go back once you get used to a mouse and it is pretty darn fast.

Yeah I am totally about to change my 4 finger gesture to open and close browser tabs. I wish I could use the magic track pad on windows without it being crippled. I'd replace my mouse in a heartbeat.
