Hi
I got a macbook a couple of months back and it was great at the beginning, but now it's started overheating and turning itself off every few hours. It's been bothering me for a while so i downloaded a program called fan control to monitor the fans and my left fan seems alright going around 700rpm, but my right fan is stuck on -1. Does anyone know if that's a problem within the program or if my right fan is broke?
Any help would be great![]()

without knowing the software you are using, we can't know if it'll work right. iStat, a widget, is usually good about reading fans right... but if your machine is getting so hot its turning off, then mostly likely you have fans not working at all. no matter if your fan is indicated -1 or not, if its shutting off for no reason, I'd be getting it fixed under warranty

contact apple and ask for replacement

thanks for the responses
the program is called fan control
i'll download iStat now and see if it says the same thing
if it does i'll get it replaced -
You can also get smcFanControl to check out your fan speeds.
