    Can the macbook pro's with 15 & 17" nividia 8600 GT (512mb) game?
My concern is that I'd have a great MAC with leopard for graphics, multimedia, music, but how would I play games like Crysis, Witcher, etc.
I know they cost a premium. Is it worth me getting a macbook pro over a laptop like Sager 5793 or 9262? How easy is it to switch between Leopard and Vista to game?

Youll be playing on medium settings on crysis...but as I answered in your other thread... you can play games fine on a MBP.

I think you will have to boot to windows for most 3d gaming which would be no problem.
However the Sagers you mention have way faster vga cards. But when you compare the mac to a notebook with the same specs there should be no difference @ all.

Yeah gaming should be fine, anything that's not OS X compat you'll play best through bootcamp in Windows XP \ Vista.

Yes it can game very well.

You'll have to have bootcamp to play games that are for windows (which are most games)

But they're supposed to be releasing more games for osx, though I dont know if that will ever happen.

Though almost all blizzard games have osx versions (not sure about starcraft), so theres some good games in there.

Well I do know that Mac games are way more expensive then the same games for Windows. But how easy is it to switch from Leopard to Vista and back again? Do you have to have 2 hard drives? And Leopard has built in Boot camp, right. So if you were getting would you go Macbook Pro or Sager's?
Of course I thought about the iMac's 24, lol but can a ATI 2500HD game.

more expensive for the same games??? I'm not certain what your referring to but the prices are the same. Heck the packages are usually the same (mainly blizzard titles though). The install discs for a game that can play on both platforms is the same except it has it's own installer file dependng on what OS you are running. Not all companies do this but more are starting to crop up

All you have to do is restart the computer to switch back and forth between windows and osx.

You can get an external hdd if you want, then youll have more space to install games and stuff. Then have it all on just the hdd that comes with the computer.

don't buy macs if your primary intentions are for gaming! just too many complications for no reason. go with the sager, it's a great machine.

What exactly are the Macs good for? I do like to do other things besides gaming like movies, graphics, music.

I game on my 17" Macbook Pro all the time .... just be sure to get updated drivers from Windows from Laptopvideo2go.com

The stock drivers are pretty slow.... I play most newer games on med- high settings with 1920x1200 resolution some tweaking involved but they play very smoothly. Thats under Windows Vista Ultimate x86...

I game all the time on my 15" MBP. Definitely works well (yes, through Boot Camp on Windows, not in Mac OS). If you're looking for a solid computer and want to NORMALLY be using Mac OS, I recommend it. Otherwise, just get a PC if you're just going to be using Windows all the time.

Yes the Macbook Pro can game. I play Crysis and I have played the Witcher and it's all running very well. And you'll love OS X for no-virus-internet-surfing, iLife (creating videos/music), no crashing and all that other stuff.

    There... fixed!

But sorry, Sagers suck. Terrible, terrible laptops. I'm a previous owner and I would never touch one of their machines again. Or any other manuf. that uses Clevo parts.

Seriously though, laptops are silly for gaming. You're talking about paying a HUGE premium and loosing the ability to keep up with modern games. Most laptops can't play Crysis or Far-Cry 2 at anything close to the highest settings. Even on the $3k+ gaming laptops. Plus, in a year or two, they will be outdated and you have to drop another $3+k.

I generally suggest that people get a gaming rig for hard core gaming where SLI could really come in handy (such as Crysis). Then buy a laptop for your portable needs. If you DIY your desktop, you can build a more powerful desktop and have a good, portable laptop for the amount you would pay for a gaming laptop. And in 2-3 years, you would only have to upgrade the video card to keep up with next gen games.

    Just my opinion though...

I have a windows desktop with an 8800gtx for heavy gaming when I am home. I also travel alot and would like my laptop to be able to play games as well at decent settings. Moreover even if I am home and I just want to sit on the bed and chill at night I can grab the laptop and still be able to game on it.

I have the new MBP with the 8600m GT 512 gddr3 and it works fantastic for all of my needs. Yeah its a bit more expensive than a similarly equipped windows laptop but I like the way macs are built etc so I am very happy.

    Good luck with your choice.

Sure thing but there are lots of people going places and still want to be able to game. Taking along a desktop might knock you out before even getting to your destination. ;)

yeah, but I should clarify I'm talking about hard core gaming laptops. The DTR's. Those really are not portable. No battery life to speak off, even when not gaming. Plus they weigh a ton and are pricey.

You can still get a laptop that can do some decent gaming and a badass DIY desktop for less than some of the hardcore gaming laptops. Best of both worlds :-D

FIY, I don't consider a MBP a DTR. Though it probably could be classified as one. These and some of the others in it's range provide good gaming and portability, but they are NOT gaming laptops that can handle some of the current and next gen games at highest settings and what not.

the sager np5793 is twice faster on gaming, but leopard system is much more reasonable than windows tho.
