1. Will upgrading the hard drive on the Macbook Pro myself void the warranty?
2. Can I buy any hard drive I want and bring it to the Apple store?
3. If so, Does Apple charge anything to upgrade the hard drive?
3. Would Apple even if I upgrade the hard drive myself?
Thanks

1) Technically, yes. However, usually it only voids the warranty if you damage something in the process.
2) As long as it fits.
3) Yes, they do charge.
4) Not sure about that, don't have a MBP. -
Is there is a sticker that I'd have to remove or something like that which would tell Apple that I opened the computer and changed the hard drive myself?
Do you know how much the store charges to change out the hard drive?
I can't believe that the base Macbook Pro only comes with a 120GB hard drive. Cheap $500 PC's come with more storage space than that. -
Well, at least it's under 2000$. Think about the 17" version or the better 15". What a waste of money...

Honestly, Apple needs to start offering more in their notebooks. $2000-$2500 isn't worth it for what little they offer.

I was looking into this just last night.
I want to get a 200GB 7200rpm hard drive, to replace my OEM 120GB 5400rpm.
I use Boot Camp to run Vista, and I work with lots of apps and graphics files, so, I'll notice the faster drive and I need the extra space for my Vista partition.
Then it dawned on me, wtf, Apple should pretty much make 7200rpm drives standard on the MacBook Pro. Put the pro in pro for crying out loud, especially since there is definitely a few hundred dollars premium over PC laptops.
Sure, the Dell Inspiron 1520 is kinda ugly, but, maxed out with a higher res screen, the same video card and a 7200rpm hard drive the thing is still several hundred dollars cheaper.
I'm not really complaining about the price premium, just the lack of premium in a few crucial areas (1680x150 screen on 15" and 7200rpm drive as standard).
A 200GB 5400rpm drive is $150
A 200GB 7200rpm drive is $200
It's not like it's that big a deal for Apple to "make it happen."

Anyway, here's a good link showing the upgrade process for the hard drive.

Yea just make sure that youre getting a laptop hdd, and not a standard computer hdd.
Also you may wanna think about getting an external hdd, instead of upgrading internal one.
I bought a 500gb hdd, and enclosure, and got an esata card. Talk about speed!
Maybe its just that its 7200rpm, but stuff copies faster to it, and games run better off of it, compared to my internal 5400.
