I am contemplating buying a new, sealed macbook from somebody off craigslist. They claim it was a Christmas door-prize.
Beyond actually verifying that it is the produce described and in the sealed condition described, is there anything else I should check? Is there any way to confirm its not stolen? Also, is there some way to check when the warranty expires?
Thanks.

Ask them for the serial number and call apple and tell them you just want to verify the warranty for a purchase from someone.

Yeah, as MKang25 said, cross checking the S/N directly with Apple is the surest way.

You can check the warranty online @ https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do.
Apple does not have a formal way of keeping track of stolen machines. Though if was reported they might have something in the warranty notes. As others above me suggested, it's best to give Apple a call and see what you can find out. -
One relatively easy way to determine if the machine is stolen- what's the price? If the price is too good to be true, that's almost always a red flag. Other than that though, just make sure you meet in-person with the seller and test the machine before you buy it. Craigslist gets a bad rap, but I've bought and sold several Mac notebooks through it, and as long as you buy and sell smart, you shouldn't have a problem.
Also, utterly off topic- Sponsi, what is that watch in your avatar? It's completely bad @ss.
