I plan on buying a MBP 15.4in very soon! (after WWDC of course) and I have gone to the store to see it and everything. It really does look like the laptop for me since I do quite a bit of pro audio recording and video editing. But the size somewhat concerns me. Is the form factor difficult at all to transport around a college campus from class to class and what not?

Depends also on how big you are... You should have asked them if you can like put in a bag and then walk it around the store ^^
-
lol I did ask something like that, minus the bag part, but no go. Anyways now this feels kinda weird. Im about 5 ft. 8in. It's not really how heavy it is or anything like that. Its more like in and out of bag mobility etc. Iono... anyone catch my drift?

My first two notebooks were of the bigger mainstream size 15" and imo it was a pain in the butt, than again they were a bit thicker.
my macbook was the first one I got of the smaller size, and I love it so much more than what I had before. remember its all personal preference though. -
I owned one of the previous 15" PowerBook G4's, and I found that even though it was larger, it was still quite simple to carry around - one nice thing about the PB and MBP line is that there are a lot of great carrying cases especially designed for them. I think the 1" thickness helps a lot in making them fairly easy to take out of a messenger bag and put it back in quickly.

Yes, as zadillo mentioned, there are many vendors who sell cases (as well as a TON of accessories) specifically geared toward the apple notebook lines. If you're 5'8", it really should be ok, especially if you work out. I use work out kind of loosely, I mean if you're are the least bit brawny it really won't be a problem but if you're bone skinny you might want to reconsider.
Check around online for specific cases and bags for the macbook pro, you'll find alot. Plus any iAccessory. -
If you're looking for MBP-specific messengers bags, a few manufacturers that are often recommended are:
http://www.brenthaven.com/catalog-apple-cases.html
and
http://www.tombihn.com/
and
http://www.sfbags.com/index.htm
Some of these are on the pricey side, but they have a reputation for being very well-made, very durable, and providing excellent protection - one of those areas where when you think about the cost of what you're protecting, it is a good area to get the highest quality protection you can afford. -
Thanks for all the input. Just wanted to make sure it wouldnt be like this compaq that my dads got. At first I was excited to have a laptop in the family and took it everywhere but eventually it was jut too burdensome, being so thick and all.
-
Its kind of big to be carrying everywhere -
Are you talking about the MBP?
I kinda somewhat agree, yes I feel that the thickness plays the majority of the role in burdensome travel, but screen size I feel can play a part as well, it means you gotta carry a bigger bag as well. It's different for everyone. Yes, I wish I could put one in a bag and walk around a store, but I think they'd think I'm trying to steal it. xD
I've said before my next purchase in a like 3 years will most likely be the MBP, however they need to have a small form one out by than like they had for the 12" Powerbook, otherwise I'll probably just get the newest macbook. -
That would be my definite concern. Whether I could walk around with it comfortably.
