Hello, I'm thinking of purchasing a 15" MBP and am debating between the standard screen and the high resolution screen. I had a studio xps 16 with the 1080p screen and though it looked great so I would ideally like to get the high resolution screen. However, I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on the readability of the screen, is text readable? Does Mac OS contain a feature like Win 7 where you can increase the text size? I really liked the look and extra space higher resolution screens offer but did notice on the studio xps that without increasing the text size text (which it did by default) text and menus were too small. What are your opinions on the macbook's high resolution screen, which do you prefer? Thanks.

I personally love high res screens regardless what laptop it is. I have a very strong prescription regarding my glasses and even then the high res screens dont bother me. Plus you have more screen realistate to work worth as well.

Can you get to an Apple store and see the difference for yourself?

Get it no matter what. The upgrade fee is what $100, totally worth it, its much better than the default 1440x900. That 1080p XPS 16 actually has a higher PPI, so the text will be larger on the 1680x1050 15inch mac. 1440x900 would be significantly lower and you could tell the difference from that XPS 16.

You can zoom in easily in osx, so even if some text is a bit too small, just zoom in and read it.
