    Hey everyone,
I have a late '08 unibody MBP. Every once in a while, generally not every day but once every few days, I have a split-second issue where half of the screen on my MBP flashes black for a split-second. Everything's perfectly normal before and afterwards, just that. I suppose it's not terribly bothersome, but it is noticeable. I've done some searching and it seems to be happening to many people and may be software based. Should I be worried?

yeah seems like a common problem.

guess you'll have to wait and see.

if you want to get your notebook repair or replaced it doesnt make sense because the problem will most still likely be there. and we still dont know if its software of hardware issue.

hopefully this can be simply fixed by software update.

Yeah, that was mainly my concern. Thanks! Glad to know I can keep this thing.

I've noticed this twice. Just recently. Don't know what it was.

its a documented problem when using the 9400m. i have it too. waiting to see if apple releases a software update... otherwise i will push to have my screen replaced. my friend who bought his unibody several months after i did does not have this issue.

If the cause is the 9400m why would you push to have your screen replaced...?

Yeah lol that doesn't make sense.

Being the 9400 would explain why I just noticed, I switched to the 9400 to save power when my power was out. Then I noticed it.

the majority of people who have this issue have the same screen as i do - 9c84. the inverter might be poorly connected or any number of issues concerning the quality of the screen.

Hmmm, I think I also have that screen (Can't remember, and forget how to check/to lazy to google)
If it keeps happening I will probably ask Apple, But I only noticed it the first couple days switching back to the 9400.

it's widely believed to be a macbook pro-only issue. consider yourself lucky :)

Whoa, I have the 9c84 too, although the consensus does seem to be that it's a 9400m problem.
And from what I hear, the 84 is better than the 85.
