My 2.2ghz Macbook Pro SR is hitting constantly over 80 degrees while gaming, especiallying running WoW. Max I think the GPU diode recorded 88, while cpu was 86...

Is this normal, should I just ignore it, or is there something wrong? What do you guys get?

Not that I'm a MBP user, but I think in general the MBP's have been fairly hot, owing to their slim aluminum casing. I'm not sure if those temperatures are normal though, you might try cleaning out the air vents. I think they are a bit high though.

yup, its very normal. But But...you could redo the thermal paste with arctic silver to have a 5C to 20C drop in temps...

Ummm, would that mean opening up the laptop and voiding warranty? My mbp is only 1 week old so far ;s

So with this type of temperature, I guess it would suggest, try not to game on it too often? Running the mac at 80 degrees daily for say 8hrs would kill it? Not even last 1-2yrs?

I wouldn't mind if i don't feel the heat..but damn..it gets hot and sweaty. But hey...If you can fry the MBP within one year from gaming...u can definitely get a new one...mabe the next gen.

For thermal paste thing, you can find an Apple certified Tech to do it with some cost.

Is there a tutorial anywhere on replacing the existing thermal pace with Arctic Silver?
