Hi! I am thinking about getting a Vertex Plus SSD along with an Optibay to put my current 320GB Drive in. Are there any drawbacks with this configuration(other than losing the DVD Drive) ? Also, my choice is the Vertex Plus because of it's low price...will there actually be any notable difference between the Vertex Plus and other more expensive SSDs ?
Thanks![]()

I am about to go for the Agility 3...does the MBP 2011 have a SATA 3 connector ? (SO that I will be able to get the most out of the SSD)

The early MBP 15" 2011 has SATA 3 on its main connector; I've heard the other is hit or miss.
Regardless which one you buy, it'll be crazy fast after a lifetime of HDDs. The larger concern is compatibilty, and I saw a lot of anecdotes either way for most SDDs before I plugged two into my MBP. Apple has only blessed their official models.
For what it's worth, I've been running Lion on a 256GB Crucial M4 with a 128GB M4 in the optibay slot, and have had zero problems with almost zero effort involved to make it work - initial installation and updating the SSDs' firmware to v2. The update is specific to the Crucial M4; they may be shipping with the update now, and other SSDs may not require that.
If you have a newer model, check ifixit.com, as the optibay's manual was out of date with respect to the early 2011 MBP. Also, be more careful than I was; this involved replacing the optical drive screws, which I left out just long enough for the cat to find and then lose.
